Bar Fines on the rise???

What so wrong with that ?? Bars employ girls.. That costs money.. Sonme of the Bar fine goes to the girl.. Some bars chip at the girls wages when they dont have a set number of official offs per month.

When you think that your going to have a couple of grands worth of drink bill does that 200 baht really effect people this much.. I understand being economical but a 200 baht BF.. Must really show the girl how much you think shes worth.



Bars are stretched pretty thin.. For those complaining about them perhaps they shoudl try investing a couple of mil of thier own money for a couple of years lease, manage a stable of girls, keep biz running and see if beer prices are too high..

Personally if you were saying mixers didnt need to be costing 120 baht or so and 100 baht should be enough I could kind of agree.. Theres quite a profit in a bottle of spirits sold this way. But beer is a low margin product.

About two weeks ago I picked up a girl in a beer bar at Tiger, first one in the middle, super sera I think it's called, the one with the elephant trunk in front. First night the bar fine was 300. second night 500. I talked about this to the girl. She said if I pay 300, she gets nothing, if I pay 500, the bar gives her 200. Same thing happened to my friends. Me and my friends agreed paying no more than 300 and the bar accepted.
I stayed with this girl for over a week and we went to the bar one night to pick up her salary. The receipt stated their ladydrinks, coctails plus mentioned 7 x 200. I didn't ask but I reckon this is their part of the barfine.

I've no problem with the higher prices.

To some extent the higher prices may help detract from the potential "will Phuket become Ibiza" senario that is also being debated.

I'm ok as long as the coffee shop on the Art Road keeps the hot and iced coffee at 40bhat..... what a great little shop and great owners/family which kicks the crap out of Starbuks

If your BFing a girl every 2nd day Paul, and are on a tightish budget....that would add up....even over a month thats 3000 baht.....now when you think when some ex-pats would be living on somewhere between 30,000 and 60,000 baht a month....that is around 5% to 10% of their budget gone in "inflated" BF's

i never been asked for, more than 300bht b/f before.
last xmas, i b/fined at 4 or more different bars(l/t) over a 3 week period
i wouldn,t pay anymore than 300 b/f in beer bars anyway.
if you add it up-- a b/f of say- 5-600 b/f +1500-2000 to the girl (2000--2600) its an expensive night out, what with all the l/drinks as well,

more expensive than patts or anywhere else in los for that matter!

i think ill check, how much the bar is charging before b/fining a girl in future

if its more than 300 i might vote with my feet,
or even go for a f/l instead,( which is something ive never done before btw)

there seems to be a constant push to get more and more money out of the farang

You'll likely pay 500 baht barfine if the girl is on a salary...like cashier/waitress/dancer. Been that way for sometime but yes there are a couple of bars in the Tiger complex that charge 500 for all girls no matter what.

But you had the smarts to have this forum as a marketing tool Nicke.. I know lots of bars are feeling the pinch in rising lease's.. Many of these are now just extreme and dont leave a margin for profit out of a beer bar. Of course I also think a lot of this is nieve owners and bars that dont have thier nieche, dont bring anything different to a saturated market, etc..

As to the profit going to the girl and not the bar ?? Why ?? Some of these girls are very well off by Thai standards, Some of the bars are not making money.. I often chuckle at people that want to be so philanthropic with a hooker / BG (who often is happy to fleece a less grounded guy or a noob) yet argue about 20 baht over a T shirt from a market stall girl.

I am not saying dont be generous to the girls, only that just cause they screw you doesnt automatically make them a deserving cause to be supported.

But the point i liked is the highlighted one.... What is an extra 200 baht from a bill that is in the 1000's.... Mines was generally round about 2000ish mark... That 200 baht makes no odds for the 2 OR 3 WEEK HOLIDAY MAKERS

Some of the comments on here sound pretty cheap You can go to another place and get a drink 20 - 40 baht cheaper and others about bar fines being really expensive.... who really cares that you can get it from another bar 40 baht cheaper.... If i personaly find a bar i like i will stay in there... Drink whatever i want pay the bar fine (If i see a girl i like) and then go... For the money us holiday makers are saving by going to another bar.. It really isnt worth it....

In larger bars especially gogo's BF's are a very important part of the revenue stream, and adds up alot when your talking about 600 or 700 BF's in a month.

I am not knocking people on a budget, long stayers are often having to make choices to maximize time and fun etc but bar fiunes seem contentious.. I guess some guys dont like the fact they have to pay for the service of getting the girls there..
