Maybe the reason why the OP finds it boring is because he did not have a group of ready made friends like we had. Imagine being in Patong on your own:

No pool games with the lads
No mob-handed visits to perverts hang-outs at the direction of DM
No-one to chat to at the MTB (apart from girls with taches)
Losing spray battles on new years eve 'cos there is only one of you against 4 nutters on Bangla.
No trips organised by Nicke - go-karting, golf, fishing etc.

Pattaya is much easier to find girls all day long, so if you are on your own, then I understand where the guy might be coming from.

No wonder. All he did was say Patong seems more boring now and the girls don't seem that hot and he gets 10 guys telling him to hop a plane and get out of town and calling him a troll. Maybe there should be another header alongside "general", "nightlife", and "accomodation" called "Fantasy Island" where only positive opinions are permitted.

Funny to read what people think about Pattaya and Patong.

Most of you seems to compare the town of pattaya to the hole island of Phuket (not just Patong)

I dont think Patong is that diffrent from Pattaya if you read BM's FR. Only thing we do in Patong is to F.ck and drink and talking with friends.

The same people do in Pattaya.

When you have stayed in Pattaya have any of you ever go on tour outside of Pattaya (like going to rayong or Ko Samet.)

As one BM said you can't compare Pattaya to Phuket. It's like compare phi-phi island to Bangkok.

That is the truth, because Pattaya should be compared to Patong and Phuket should be compared to the Thai eastern seaboard gulf coast of which Pattaya is part of in the same way as Patong is part of Phuket.

And yes Tiger you are correct because in terms of nightlife Patong is behind Pattaya although Phuket is more beautiful place.

I've only been to Phuket/Patong, but from yapping to various guys i've met on my trip, who talked about pattaya/bkk vs patong, and how in your face it all is etc, I'll stick to Patong, more my speed.
Wasn't as if this particular fugly bugger had any trouble enjoying myself and picking up 3 FL/BG's my first 3nights there before sticking with the 3rd one for the rest of the trip.

As iposted before i dont hink there is any difference in the nightlife in pattaya/patong the big difference is daytime if you are a party animal (as i was until maybe 18 months ago) who likes going out for fun in the daytime then Patong has nothing to offer you regarding bars no go go brs open and the few bars which are open are lifeless ,unless you arrange an afternoon at he valhalla and organise some girls to come with you. SOME GUYS prefer patong for the other daytime activities snorkelling,diving etc not me i am a lazy bas--rd now i am happy sitting next to the pool or beach with afew beers and saving myself for nightime i have had my crazy days in pattaya at the moment i am giving it a miss for the next 3 visits but around november 2007 i am sure i will head Pattayas way again.

Couldn't agree more with the original post, Patong is a boring, horrible place. Nothing to do, ugly girls, warm beer, and bad beaches. No reason to ever go there. Stay in patty....

You have missed out the very important sentence I put at the end of my post explaining the difference between Patong and Pattaya. In Pattaya it is easy to met girls all day long, in Patong things don't get going until after 9:00. So if you are alone, Pattaya will not be boring.
