Yada yada. Imho, newbies be aware. Imho it sounds more like these service providers are coming up to mortgage renewal time.. and a new line up of suckers are required

I think the reason I've always been more interested in the independent providers is because (I find) they tend to focus on more than just the finish line, giving a better quality massage, value for my money, and a more personal experience, rather than upselling the extras at every opportunity. I try to be respectful of them as well by relegating my opinions and recommendations to private messaging to minimize their exposure, especially if they are actually RMTs who have a bit more to lose should they be outed publicly for offering more.

But it seems like more and more people would rather shell out hundreds of dollars for what basically amounts to a brothel-like experience. While I believe that these establishments do serve a purpose and I totally understand their popularity, lately most seem to be more focused on pulling as much money as they can from their clients with as little effort as possible.

Your warning to newbies is spot on.
Do your research. Know what the average cost is across the industry before agreeing to shell out more money. Don't be bullied in to paying more than you believe to be fair based on that research. You may not end up with the finish you were hoping for, but you'll still have your cash for your next visit with someone else.

I am open to alternatives, but I too prefer independents. I even prefer seeing studio providers at their private incall, if they have one.
Yes, VFM plays a roll in my choice, but cost is not the only determinant.
We are each after our own type of experience and the 4 hands $300 massage with release meets the needs of some, otherwise they wouldn’t be around.
With what I’ve found so far, I don’t easily stray.

Cost and VFM are two separate things. If the VFM is there, for the client, I say .. Go For It. We have one life! My original point is that as more newbies enter into the scene they need to be more discerning. Assess the benefits and whether the VFM is there for them personally. At whatever the cost is. IMHO, in a majority of situations the VFM is not there. This is my point. Better to invest in your own savings and investments than to throw it away on useless services from providers who are only meeting their own financial needs without providing sufficient value in return.

The same funds invested in oneself, later in life you will have much more to spend on enjoyment.

These ideas would earn a lifetime ban on CAF

Agree that some places are getting out of hand and that’s some great warning/advice to all and just newbies.

I also prefer independents but sometimes booking is difficult due to schedule not allowing and that’s when spas come in handy (longer hours and more than 1 therapist) Sometimes you get lucky (not always of course) Also not a fan of 4 hand because won’t get your moneys worth.

Research goes a long way!

Yep.

Announcements on new talent with no information on the type of massage or the experience of the masseuse are warning signs. All aimed at newbies and new born suckers.

The problem is that there are never any reviews of independents so people just visit the mp's that advertise or that have reviews posted. I would like to see any indy but I'm wary of all the fake leolist ads.

Most independents in Calgary run ads on Kijiji. Some are just posted infrequently. Very infrequently a therapist who works in a legit shop may also see a trusted client in a more private setting
