On a gound floor, with 5 very large exit routes and only 25 customers to get out??? yes you must be right. No chance of a fire in Sound and if there was one everyone would leave two by two, down a fire escape or set of stairs that everyone knows and is informed where it is.

At least some good has come out of all this malarky, Chris now knows there is a set of stairs and he can maybe pop up that way, he has just got to find out from Rob where they are.

Not surely a way up if he is not wanting to travel in the lift, sorry I maybe misunderstood your last post, I was thinking you meant there was another way up by stairs?

Anyway all this is getting off topic a bit and if you hadn't posted, I was just about to take my previous one off because of that fact, as its not really that linked to DJ's at sound club!! but more my uneducated opinions on fire precautions and lets face it most times I'm in a club, alcohol takes away most of my common sense to look for them anyways, which I always used to do when clubbing the UK??

English_bob hasn't been on here for a while. I'll try and get a message to management, then will come back and edit this if I am wrong about any of the following.

Here is the short version.

1) Walk into the lobby to see two staff members trying to force open the left lift's doors with the lift stuck a half meter above the floor level. Front door girls informs me "no problem" it has been stuck like this all day and no, people aren't stuck in there.

2) No staff running the right elevator. People piling into the one functional elevator well past the point where the "Full" light comes on. A few trips later there is a "lift man" running the box trying to limit people, but the box is still a couple bodies past "Full".

I start thinking a few flights of stairs isn't a big deal. Again, elevator "no problem" which means there is a problem. Staff inform me stairs is not an option. I think she might have said "no stairs" which had me thinking fire + Santika.

I take my 300 baht loss and leave.

Side question, is the Patong fire brigade trained in elevator rescue?

Payment is taken outside the club before you enter... luckily I did not have to pay.

We got in the lift, it started to go up whilst making an awful whining sound. Then it dropped suddenly! Not a lot but enough for a big jolt that scared everyone. There was only four people in it.

The music is far better when Phuket House Mafia Dj's are playing.... Sunday nights.

I went last Sunday they partition half the place off to make it smaller/busier. There were two lads in wife beaters having a push ups competition on the dancefloor!

The sound system is awful in there.... one of the best clubs in Thailand? I think not.

Yes, its all that concrete, not enough soft furnishings, the equipments OK actually and the installs not too bad just harsh environment for sound to travel in.

Don’t really want to get involved in this, but I really do fail to see how you can brand it the most “professional club” in Thailand when you admit that the quality of the sound --- as perceived by the clientele --- is not top notch. Surely that must be part of the overall judgement of the “professionalism” of the club, no?

Anyway, I personally found it useless as a dance club and will probably not be back.

When it's packed the sound system actually sounds quite good.

Professional as in professionally built, Its relatively new and so will have problems to iron out I'm sure. The sound system is not a bad one by any means.

And then bailed, because something in Thailand seemed slightly unsafe?

No way a fire could spread in there, its all concrete, I'm fairly sure that the elevator would take a full load, they are designed that way that more than the elevator could take simply wouldn't fit in.

plenty of fixtures and fittings in there for fire and fumes to be a killer....doesn't even have to spread throughout the whole venue....add that to the mass hysteria coupled with the lack of a fast exit and I'd say ATM had good reason for second thoughts

Sorry but I have to disagree with you on this one. Even one of the Dj's admitted it sounded terrible.

Probably one of the best smoking areas around though... thats were its all happening and were everyone seems to hang out.

The drinks are priced good, 160 baht for an absolute tonic.

When its busy it is a decent night and good to have another option of where to go out. Just hope they sort the lifts and sound system.

What do you mean?

The whole place is made of concrete, I've been through the place with a bit of a toothcombe to find out why it sounds so dead (it's because its made of 98% concrete). The electrics and wiring are all good and the lifts are new and modern.

You are 100% safer in there than some dodgy two bit kamala pub with the electrics done by somchai down the street and bamboo roofing.

I'm a bit bored of getting grief on here by the usual crowd, the place is probably the best built bar/club I've seen in Thailand, why would a statement that its probably safe draw grief and "be without basis".

The sound system - It definitely needs softening up, too much slap.

Was in Sound and they do have a fire escape route plan posted right beside the elevator (3rd floor). There are two routes at oposite ends. All good in my books.

I also think it is good they reduced the space with the divider, but think it could have been done better. I for one would have and entrance by the elevator and closed the back part (with a walk way to the smoking area). Anyway had a better vibe last night.

So furnishings cannot catch fire then, they do not produce dense smoke and couple that with mass hysteria, theres no problem then. Wiring good??? hmm!! interesting statement for Thailand.

The statement draws grief because of the apparent lack of adequate fire escape routes, two lifts x hundred people panicking??

Comments regarding Lala pubs are irrelevant and infantile because they are all open fronted and single story, and non have lifts, you just casually walk outside.
