I`m sorry to hear your resonse Andy, because for every poster who posts negatively, there are many more that are keen to be helpful. This is really a very good forum for mutual aid. My advice is to either ignore the negativity or respond in a non personal manner to what are often personal attacks. I appreciate where you are coming from as after all, big or small, we are all on a budget and yours happens to be smaller than most perhaps. LOS is not just for those with big budgets and you can have a great time without having leaky pockets.

Yes m8 agreed the old patong is gone forever, thats why I've qualified when and if I will come back and it will become less frequent in the future

As for yourself you are one of the minority of families who went there and accepted what it was and it enjoyed it that way. You wont be meeting interesting people in the future who live a little on the edge, that will and is gone you can even see that in the change in profile in some of the ex pats as well as tourists such and Tracy, Shaz and Dwaine

I've travelled to lots of places that are very busy in their respective high seasons and wondered what it would be like to live there year round when the ruck and maul is over and you have the place to yourself to look around and explore.

Some places around the world it never dies down I know. Rome, London, Paris etc - They are not really dictated to with a monsoon season......Well, maybe not London as it seems to be monsoon season everytime I step off a bloody train there!

I like my six months or so in Kamalalala when I can almost wander around the place and have the beach to myself-ish. Good bunch of expats bracing themselves for the next on-slaught.

I'll admit I am going less and less to Bangla and it's surrounds purely as it's not what I want and I can't hear myself speak half the time. Yet I still like taking the newbie visitor down there and seeing their faces when they realise exactly what it is! The girls don't seem 'bored' to them and I guess I agree with Sef in his small but 'succinct' post that perhaps it is the regular BM's that are getting a bit jaded about the place. I seem to remember gangs of lads on the pish, running up and down Bangla wearing toga's, rugby team shirts from the Dubai 7's years and years ago! It's that kinda place!

I've realised I haven't put a scratch in exploring Thailand and I guess that is my mission as soon as the tourist numbers in Kamalalala start climbing usually just before Christmas. It's also an opportunity to rent out my place for an exhorbitant amount of money while I stay in cheapo B&B's here and there around the country.

Some posters have mentioned that they have moved to Patts because Patong is becoming more and more of a 'family' destination and a bit tame etc, I hear you! Yet on the other hand folk mention they avoid it because of gangs of (The wrong types) of lads on the pish...Which I guess is every little soi bar owners wet dream come rent time!

It's evolving that's for sure, whether it is for the better or for the worse I guess is up to the individual. I for one still enjoy my time on Phuket immensely but yes, have become a little bit jaded with what is essentially a very small area of the Island that is Patong.

But it doesn't stop 'em coming does it?

If so, in Patts you pay 500 ST and 1000 LT for FLs. Same-same for beer bar girls(+400BF) however it can vary greatly in go-gos where you can get you can pay 1000-3500bht(inclusive)depending on you, the girl or the venue and there are so many go-gos in Patts, it's too much to put here. There are to many variants to put here, but you generally can get more bang for ya buck in Patts...

P.S The flights to LOS are getting cheaper by the day, apparently Pat's is the new favourite destination. I always tell every 2 week Aussie tourist to go to Pats, get really pisses, find a Pommy and tell him how great Australia is over and over again. :rofl:

I recommend avoiding the trailer trash and rednecks on holiday as well (don't want our US BM's to feel left out of the conversation).

More competition on the PER-DPS (Perth to Bali) route means that the cheaper flights are to Bali so most bogans are returning there, where we can keep them contained.
