If you pay far less than the average your being cheap / frugal.. If you pay far more then the going rate your generous / stupid.

I can remember some time back a BM making a comment about the "lone sexual predators" who come to LOS(is it better if you're part of a pack?). And when I was in LOS, walking up and down the sois checking out the girls, I sometimes thought of that comment, and laughed to myself. Because I sure as hell never felt like a predator. Quite the contrary, I felt like the prey. Those girls are pros, most of them. They have a lot more experience than you or me(in most cases).

Sure, a lot of them don't really want to have sex with you. But nobody makes them. They are providing a service, just like anyone else. You think I like sitting around in this office, working all day? Some of my clients, I would just as soon wring their frigging necks as have to smile and listen to their BS one more time. But I do it. For the money. And the girls do it for the money. Some of my clients are pretty good folks, and I don't mind doing business with them at all. It becomes a case of mixing business with pleasure. You get the job done, and if you can enjoy each other's company, have a drink togehter, a laugh, and a meal, so much the better. And it's the same with the girls, as some will enjoy your company, and some won't so much. But in the end, they are earning their living, just like the guy who is stuck in the office in front of a computer screen all day, except maybe they get to have a little more fun than him along the way.

If you try to get out of paying, that is exploitation, unless you are really serious about having a LT relationship with the girl, and all the responsibilities and expenses that go along with that. But if you pay them a fair sum, which could be a 1000 or more, and maybe even in a some cases less(whatever happened to 500 being the going rate for ST - still is on Beach Rd., Pattaya), then good enough, it's silly to talk about that being exploitation.

What if the so called `going rate` jumped tommorow from 1,000 bath to 10,000? (I know its not going to happen but please bear with me as I`m trying to make a point).

Would all board members who indulge in p4p continue to pay? (after all its the `going rate` and the girls need it).

Sometimes, if a girl asked for 1500, and I offered 1000, she would say, "Why you not pay 1500?" Good question, fair enough. You just have clocked over 5000 posts, congratulations on that one by the way! So I am sure you have seen it all. But that does not mean that everybody else here has. Yes they can search for old postings but many want to participate in the discussion rather than just lurking. I would venture that apart from the core member group this forum has a relatively high turnover rate for active posters and, to a lesser extent, members so for many people things are "new".

At any rate, there is obviously something as an average price for LT. I would however seriously doubt that that price is 1000 BHT. I would think that 1000 BHT is more like the "informed rate", the rate expats and informed BM's pay. As has been mentioned before some BG's are lucky in that they often get (much) higher rates from perhaps newcomers or generally people who simply do not know the informed rates or people who simply want to be generous. It is like people buying fake Rolexes, I am frequently amazed at what people are willing to pay for them, they just don't know the prices people are willing to sell for. On the other side I doubt there are many rates that go far under 1000 BHT for LT. So that implies that average is probably higher than 1000 BHT.

As to inquire what is a fair rate, what is that going to prove? Is is still just an opinion right? If 98% of the people think that 1000 BHT LT is fair some may still disagree with that opinion. Some may think it is 2000 and others may think it is 500. Who cares? It is a personal decision and if the price is freely agreed upon I really do not understand what is there to make a fuss about. Why call those people names, try to ostracize them or even delete their postings?

In my opinion very few things in life are fair. I think it is rather inappropriate to use the term 'fair' when talking about paying someone to have sex with with. I think there is nothing fair about it, I am the guy with the money and the BG is there because she does not have many other choices. That does not mean she cannot have a good time, I have seen so many situations where the BG is enjoying it as much as I do or even more.

To me there are all kinds of good reasons not to negotiate a price. If you have to negotiate hard it kind of spoils it a bit already. Not making money an issue is often the way to be more relaxed with each other. I can imagine that I could do some hard negotiation for LT, say 500 BHT. But would the lady be happy? I can imagine that it would negatively impact her performance in bed and generally her attitude towards me.

Also another point, and perhaps some forget about that, is the level of attraction the lady has for the potential client. A twenty year old BG might just be more interested in going with a 20 to 25 year old guy than someone who is 50+. Would it be fair if she quotes the young guy a lot lower than the 50+ guy? I think it has nothing to do with fairness. You can negotiate but the BG ultimately sets the price, accept it or walk away.

But the point of the topic is basically does it make sense to "kick and name call" those who negotiate a lower rate, or to accuse those people of having low morals. That, I think, does not make any sense for it lacks a sense of relativism, one monger accusing another monger of having low morals.

Is there a tangible reason why prawns cost 500 baht a kg ?? They seem to go up some times seasonally.. As the cost of production increases some of those costs are passed on to the purchasers.. Exactly the same.

1000 baht is a low average.. In a way a minimum that any less than is well 'under' market.. Its also a round number and single note.. From my experiences its a kind of baseline minimum that most beer bar girls would be happy to take, any less and its usually not willingly taken in the context of one night P4P..

The fact is tho, that there are choices.. There are jobs out there.. In fact there seems a constant need for reliable staff in most of the businesses I talk to.. And in fact the rates that many farang businesses pay to retain the good / hardworking ones is a lot higher than many (me at least) think.. Bee had a job just waiting tables at 12k plus tips (3 - 5k) per month.. I know hotel staff making 12 - 15 with sidelines on top. A girl I know with some smarts has a enough income to be buying land and saving quite a lot without ever taking P4P.

The fact is many many Thais are not good employees.. They are unreliable, late, unconcientious, Thais also live for the now and value fun possibly more than westerners... Investing time into projects doesnt appeal to them much in my experiences.

Hence being a BG is the easiest job, it allows them to sleep all day, drink and party.. Sure it has its downsides but I think the more I look at it the more I see it as thier choices and less that they are forced into this life they do not willingly choose.
