New night club in Patong

Hat Yai is full of good techno/house clubs, and I miss these kind of places in Phuket.

Me and Kevin (K2) went inside on Friday close to 02:00am but it was empty and nobody there. Kevin were actually going to introduce me to Frank who he talked to earlier that evening.

So yes, I guess it is up and running now.

Simply stay open and out of jail !!! TiT. Ask the Canadian guy who had the Shark club.. 30 mil he had to run away from I heard !!

Closer to USD 1.5 mio ... Patong club scene never been the same since Shark gone ... and this is the most astonishing example of how a successful biz is totally decimated by greed and jealousy of 'local' players. I very much doubt that the Bangla Boxing that now resides there is puling in the 1 mio+ Bhat/day that Shark used to pull in. (But perhaps Tiger on a good day might .. but not a patch on the old Shark atmosphere).

Frankcy's Club Pirate is well and truely open ... 1am thru real late ...

1 million baht a day, Thats 10,000 beers - Maybe new years eve or something but I doubt every day of the week.

Why do you think the owner of the shark was 60 million baht out of pocket? He got everything out of the club, I personally remember some friends of ours going and fishing out all their chairs, light and sound system for the guy - and I know he got all the booze out as well. What else is there that would be worth 60 million baht.

When certain Bangla road bars can take 100k per day on average for the whole high season I dont think that a shark or tiger would be that stretched to take 1m during the high season periods..

Whats tigers capacity 3k ?? more ?? So then consider the rolling attendance through the night.. 3 beers each person.. easy !!!

Shark Club had average 500,000 baht/night and closer to 1 m. in high/peak season, what I've heard from staff in the past.

I also agree Shark Club was the best club Patong ever had with a good atmosphere and great events regulary.

I used to enjoy sitting on the steps of Shark and stuffing my face with something (Food Mav!!) and sat between two beauties at 2 in the morning after a brilliant time inside. The atmosphere outside was as much fun as inside and I did miss it this last trip.

There used to be girls outside giving complimentary entrance tickets, I would always get to the door without one, get asked for the dosh and disappear trying to find the girls with the freebie tickets.

Sorry to hear he had so much trouble out there and I just hope others with aspirations listen to what has and is happening to these places like Rock City and Shark.

Speaking of the old Shark Club, what did you guys think of Star Wars (later 'Star Club' I heard). I actually quite liked the place. Shark was sadly b4 my time, and no question Star Wars wasn't nearly as fun as Shark. But I liked the atmosphere and setup. It seemed clean and well-run as well.

Anyone feel the same? Different opinion of the place? One thing I didn't like about though--completely dead until midnight.

I miss the clubs in Samui. The Green Mango was a crazy place. Lots of fun there.

So the story goes..

The deal was that the place was making too much money for the local competition to tolerate a farang doing the best in town.. So when the nightlife nudity rules started suddenly a picture appears of a topless girl in the club.. No idea if it was just in the crowd or on seforum.xxxe or what..

The manager then faced lewd conduct, showing, type charges and was told he was going to get the book chucked at him.. Jail time etc.. He skipped bail never to return..

Turns out the picture was a few years old and from a period from long before the showing rules were in effect.. However by this time the pic has had its intended effect and the club was closed manager wanted for skipping bail etc..

When you consider that Thais running Uncle Charlies just got caught pimping underage kids out of Soi Paradise and are back open without any issues.. etc etc it tells you how towns vested interests simply contyrol all that goes on, if there is a conflict between thier biz and yours or if your taking thier customers.. Watch out !!!

You have to walk a fine line between doing OK but not doing too OK.. Do too well and someone will find a way to eliminate the Farang competition..

It is located in Soi SeaDragon off Bangla road. It's at the end of the street.

The sucks what they did to rock city, i loved the music and that band was very good. Why they have to shit on businesses that actually do good for Phuket. Anyways, i'll be Djing and i am a registered international dj , but i'm in contact with a bangkok dj agency that issue permits to travelling dj's in Thailand, little costy but manageable.

No idea.. Only relaying how I heard the tale..

However you slice it, it was a very minor infraction, from a time when it would not even have been an issue, and still would not have been if it was owned by any of the people of influence..

Only have to look at Safari's closure times or Dragons shows to see that rules are not always rules..
