So how do you know if its for all the staff or just customers drinking in the bar itself?

Been in bars when ringing the bell is just for customers drinking... and been in bars where everyone gets one including the workers.....

I did the same as Pabs at the Sick Buffalo 2 weeks ago - with 20 baht - still had all the girls line up.

bit off topic but where did ringing the bell come from?,first time i saw it was in LOS.
was it from the same people that invented valentines day,mothers day and xmas in July? 555

i`ve seen guys shout the bar at a golf club when they get a hole in one or a shout from someone who has a windfall and i use to put on a keg of beer for my mates and get them to bring some food....probably the Aussie equivalent?

The bars in sunset plaza that i use adopt different deals for ring the bell.

Blue Coral is ring the bell 1000B and a shooter for everyone at the bar (not staff)

Beach Bar, ring the bell and buy everyone at the bar a drink of their choice (not staff) so that one can get expensive so you pick the right time.

Both these bars have a smaller bell that when rang buys all the staff in the bar a drink only.... not the customers.

The bars that do the 1000B shooter for all make a killing because the shooter is normally cheap tequilla or sambuca or a cocktail made from local spirits which cost peanuts...

if he planned on being generous with a few people and as he was ringing the bell a few more happened to walk in the bar, he should man up
if people were rightfully taking advaneforum.xxxe of his generosity, then he has a right to be pissed.

as you know, i don't mind buying drinks and buy quite a few
but i am not a bell ringer because although i buy a lot of drinks, i don't feel the need to buy drinks for strangers
and i actually felt awkard the 2 times i have ever rang the bell and only did it because my friend's bar insisted( not to buy the drinks but to ring the bell after the drinks bought)

The last time I rang a bell was in Ban R!m Klong as a way of saying thank you to the staff for taking care of Alex whilst I enjoyed a beer with Dodger. I was a bit surprised when the cook and all the kitchen staff and I think anyone else in audible range lined up for a drink. I didn't take any offense but not sure I will do it again, will just buy drinks for those I intended to get one.

There's a golf course in Los Angeles called De Belle. The par 3 7th green is not visible from the tee box. So when you are done putting you ring the bell for the all clear to the next group. No free drinks though.

it seems to be that the number of people who slipped in after the ring is the point in question and not the principle?

i`ve had TG`s from other bars jump in after ringing the bell,in a joking manner and i laugh back and wave my hand to say sorry no.

best to ask how much first? some bars are 1000 baht for all and others per shot.
