Pattaya is very different to operate in than Phuket - I have been to Pattaya go go bars many times with Larry - he is fully aware of what happens there

Met the new owner of Rock hard last night at MTB... He seems like a really nice guy... He sat for a while chatting and drinking with us. Myself, Pinot and Seancally then popped in for one at Rock Hard a Go Go before tiger and it was packed.... Girlies were not topless unfortunately but the atmosphere was good and better than Dragon's. No one was trying to force shots of tequila for you or themselves, which is a good thing. I wish the new owner all the luck with his new venture.... Just hope his moped doesn't get robbed again LOL!!

I think that Patong certainly has a good availability of discos for its size but it just falls down on gogos due to the local legal constrictions

In what way? There's naked girls in them and lesbian/ping pong shows plus they have ST rooms. They just stop at fullon sex shows. That's the only difference between gogos here and BKK.

I've been a Rockhard fan for some years mainly because of the music, but I always found the girls to be more approachable than the Dragonladies!
In Dragon you can sit forever without any girls approaching and sitting with you unless you call for them!
One change that I don't like is that the girls don't wear sexy bikinis and thongs anymore, but just normal street wear, makes the place look more like a coyote dancing club!
Maybe some of the music should change to more modern rock or hiphop that will suit the girls better!

I never could understand why they took a perfectly good bar like Rock Hard (and Smokin Joe's upstairs) and decided they needed to "change" it all around. Maybe the Club Rio restaurant actually makes them so much money they don't care. I doubt it though.

Or maybe it's just that Patong has changed. Still, it's a shame the way Rock Hard has gone down the tubes.

About not being approached, I like that. Probably one of the main reasons I go to Dragon.

On the music, that is the number one thing they need to do. Absolutely they will lose most of the regulars. There is a core group that gos and drinks. So fear of loosing what they have. But they need to get with the times. Maybe do rock early on. But by 10pm or 11pm they need to switch format. I know they could get a new group of regulars and newer girls.

Suzy Wongs has the same music problem. But the shit country music and strange rock gives it a weird Vietnam war GI bar feeling.

if you havent got the girls you aint got shit ! If you cant treat the girls right, then you wont have any girls, If you got the girls then youll have the customers, that followed by some good PR personel as Big bill was back in the day. Another thing that makes a great bar is the music ! Sorry to say, girls dont want to listen to classic rock or even modern rock ! They want tunes they can get off to, shit that makes them shake their ass ! Maybe you like going to a go go bar cause they play your favorite classic oldies crap, but me, I like to see the girls enjoy what they dance to, if their happy, Im happy, the customers are happy, the bar is happy ! everybody is happy ! If its the music that is so important to you, then stay home get out your old LP's and enjoy yourself ! As for me Im going to dargon !

Woodie the bottle price was 2000B with a VIP card it was 1800B, but that might have stopped so 2500B was the first increase in bottles for 10 or more years, and u could keep it there til done with free mixers...not many places do that...not sure of Rock Hard, I'm retired....Roxy will be opening this month,says Jeff......So hear's their re-buttle....

Barfines in Rock Hard are only a 1000Bt on Songkran day, Xmas day and New Years Eve like every other bar in Thailand .....it is only 600Bt any other time from start to finish.:rules:

Music for middle age, get some ears dude, we play techno, hip hop, rap, pop, rock and heavy metal. te:

A good dancer can dance to any type of music, customers make requests that are honored, thus there is a wide range of music played throughout the night. :rules:

Running a go go bar is exactly the same where ever it may be, is a 7/11 in Pattaya different to one in Phuket?..:rules:

For all those negative minded people pull your heads out of the sand and come and enjoy the Rock...after all isn't that the reason we are in Thailand...if you're not happy with something, come and tell me that's what I'm here for...if it's a reasonable request I'll be proud to oblige.

If you can't be satisfied with what Thailand has to offer I suggest you go back to your respective countries where I'm certain you won't be happy...

Anyway It's all good...the Rock's back on top again and the vast majority of it's customers are happy...especially all the rugby 10's players who've booked the club for next year's bash....congratulations to the Extinct Volcanoes from Manila, well done

I posted larrys answer here the other day but the mods deleted it quickly, which i understand so no griping there, the post above mine is closer to the mark as well as local "politics" and the usual bits and pieces that go on in this part of the world. The issues with RH are acknowledged by Larry and there is a plan of action in place to try and do something, but he's not really overly active with the place anymore - and the day to day operations are delegated out, as other interests have taken priority. The girls and general atmosphere have gone downhill since the days of the early 90's where RH, Extasy (In Brians day not the shambles it became later on) and to a lesser extent Flash were the only places in town worth visiting. Those days will never return too much has changed, but I like RH still to this day as a place to hang out until the late night madness begins. I've tried Dragon a few times, yes the girls are great, the music sucks, and most customers sit there like lemons being ignored. (And their chairs are terrible!)
