Sickness

Can anyone help please, my Reflexology Case Study has had two sessions and after each session she is sick and feels unwell for about 48 hours, I realise that this is a contra-action to the treatment but can I do anything to stop it happening next time as I think she may stop the treatments if it continues and I have only three weeks to complete my study and probably will not have time to finda new one. Thank you.(She has a lot of congestion in her lung area).

Hi, I'm probably not much help because i'm only just learning myself but i didn't want to read and run!

I suppose sickness is just another form of clearing. Is she actually vomiting or is it nausea? I'm really not much help but if it continued i'd be feeling rather nervous about the whole thing. Its difficult for us when we are learning and haven't experience to draw on. I understand the need for the treatments to continue to six weeks for the case study and i think it makes for avery interesting subject so i suppose you'll just have to play it by ear and see what happens. Perhaps ginger biscuits for the nausea??

Am fairly new to reflexology myself, but in my training we were told that this kind of reaction was "normal", a clearing of toxins after the treatment. We were told to tell all clients that this could happen and that it would clear up in a few days, AND that it would probably tail off after the first few treatments. So encourage your client to keep coming, and reassure her that her body is clearing and that she is moving towards better health. Hope this is helpful. Good luck with your studies.

[sm=1syellow1.gif]Thank you Dixie and Touchtoes for the feedback, I will be speaking to my Tutour tomorrow so I will see what she has to say, hopefully my Case Study will be having a session on Wednesday and I will re-assure her that the sicknessis normal and will go as the sessionsprogress - hopefully!, I'll see if she likes ginger biscuits.

Just to let you know that I have just finished my Case Studies last session and she stopped being sick after the third session, I have been giving her a much lighter touch than I would normally give and not working too much on the stomach area, or and by the way she is on her second packet of ginger biscuits! so thankyou for the advice Dixie and Touchtoes.
