I've done about five trips solo, never have a problem finding people to drink with, girls all reckon I am "handsum man"

Last May after too many vodkas, alone and too drunk to f*ck, I was seforum.xxxgering back to the hotel when a ladyboy pulled up on a bike, ran at me and went straight for my pockets. Other than that, flying solo in Patong has always been a good experience for me. You make friends quick and don't have the constraints of nagging and judgemental friends, especially ones who aren't into the bargirl scene. My advice.... have 1 bar that you always start at each night, get to know the girls there but NEVER barfine them. down a few drinks and buy a couple of ladies drinks to keep them happy, then make up some shit and go on your merry way. After a few days I've found the girls understand they aren't going to make money out of you and seem to open up a little more beyond your standard "where do you from" "how old you" "you handsum man" conversation.

I walked the beach side of the road more than a few times between Kepsap and Bangla late evenings. But I'm always in condition yellow and wearing my "Don't fck with me" expression whenever walking a city at night. I preferred the walkway along the beach, as it was more open & had fewer nooks for people to lurk in late at night.

Without a doubt - GO. I'm getting ready to head out for a solo trip of my own because my mate had to cancel as well. No hesitation at all on my part though because I've done Phuket on my own before. Some of your best travel experiences come from solo trips when you're more likely to try to meet new people and you have the freedom to do what you want to do. Look at as an opportunity - not a problem.

It's been said above but it's absolutely true - keep your wits about you, don't get blackout drunk and, if it stinks, simply walk away. Follow those rules and you'll have a great time. One thing I would add too is don't get on a girl's motorbike after 2am if you just met her that night. Chances are she's been boozing like you but plus she can really take you anywhere she wants at that point. During the day - no dramas. Late night - stick to taxi's and tuk tuks though with you at SBH this shouldn't an issue. I ended up on the back of a motorbike around 3am thinking we were just heading to my place. However, she decided she wanted to keep going. We ended up in a hole in the wall bar in the middle of what seemed like nowhere with me as the only foreigner in the joint. I think I could actually hear the record scratch when I walked in In the end it was all was good (and a great time actually) and I probably had nothing to worry about. She's a top chick as are her friends but perhaps not the smartest of situations to put myself in considering no one knew where I was or who I was with.

The night's out are sure to be class - it's the daytime I would worry about being bored. I'd rent a motorbike and go crusing and check other parts of Phuket. There's a lot more to Phuket than Bangla Rd actually and lots of cool shit to check out. Don't pass up the opportunity mate but just be smart and it will be a good time.

Pick pockets world over, not sure on statistics but I dont think Thailand is much higher then any other country, Ive been multiple times, many times so drunk I cant remember most of what happened, sometimes I've left a wallet laying down for a moment with out realizing - plenty of times i could have been robbed and nothing has happened. (Not saying Thailand is perfect, but Phuket is most definitely safer (by farrr) then say, Kings Cross in Sydney IMO.

Im not into the LB thing, but Ive never had a problem when they have been around at bars and on Bangla. They made some good nights when I went with family on two separate times.

Like most people have said, GO - You will not regret it, and you will wonder why you had all this worry's and doubts in the first place!
