finally paid off!! I have had a decal in the rear window of my car for 3 yrs now, not a nibble. On the way back from Starbucks this morning...cell phone rings. Its the reverend behind me, telling me she has a revival Wed, and could she come see me Tues to relax beforehand!! FINALLY!!! And here I was, ready to take the darn thing off lol Anyone else have one? I was able to design it @ webdecal.com pretty cool site, but wish it hadnt of taken so long!!

I'm glad this finally paid off for you. However, don't think that just because this is the first call from someone who mentioned your decal, that it is the first time it is working. For three years you have been driving around and people have been seeing it, giving you name recognition. Perhaps then when they see your name or brochure somewhere, they already feel somewhat familiar with you.

When we watch those Burger King commercials, we don't jump up and run to BK. But, when we are driving down the road and we see a Burger King and Joe's Hamburger Joint, we are going to stop at BK because we have seen their commercials and we're familiar with them. If someone said "What made you stop in here today?", you'd most likely say that it was the first sign you noticed, or was easy to access, but make no mistake about it, all those commercials you were seeing played a big part in your choice.

So! I think your decal has probably been working all along!

I agree wholeheartedly.
I used webdecal about 3 years ago to advertise my small business located within a salon. It actually drove business to other people in the salon! ha. BUT, many of my clients would see me driving my blue van, and honk or wave, etc.
I am about to get a new one (from same company - I love their prices, etc) for my new studios. we are doing very well combining our advertising campaigns of newspaper ads, web ads (traffic generators & indexes like Spa Index), partnerships with spa Boom and ourr own optimized website. One other little thing we have that has paid off big over the holidays & Valentine's Day is our sandwich board sign on the street.

I used to have some really nice lettering across the back window of my vehicle (installed by a sign company). It had my business name, the gist of my services, telephone number, and website. I was getting a ton of crank calls in regard to animal massage, so I eventually took it off. Now I only have a simple euro sticker with my business name, designed from massageplanetepress.com. But you've got me rethinking...I'm thinking about the whole webdecal thing, thanks.

It's very easy to remove (paint scraper, razor blade), but you can't re-use it. They do have vinyl clings there too; absolutely easy to take on/off.

Mine is a vinyl static cling thing. I can take it off to clean it, but its a bear to even out & get back on right, so Ive never taken it off. But yes, you can take it off & put it back on whenever you want :}

I'm actually thinking of getting a magnetic sign for the car... I actually got this idea when I was in Drivers Ed. The owner of the company didn't want to drive around in the car marked... but as soon as we got behind the wheel on it went...

Magnetic signs are known to scratch the paint surface of the vehicle. Be sure the car is extremely clean in the area where the sign will go.

I've long been thinking about magnetic signs, too. I didn't know they could scratch the paint of the vehicle. Is the potential for scratching the reason that the area needs to be really clean, or is it something else?

Dirt and road dust get caught between the sign and the surface of the car and every shift in the sign (bumps in the road, rubbing against the sign when opening the door, etc...), causes friction which deteorates the car's finish. Having a clean surface helps, but isn't 100% effective. A bit of wear will happen no matter how clean you keep the vehicle.

I too have had a simple 3 line static cling on my rear window... thinking about getting it redone though now that I have a registered biz name and all.... just trying to figure out a catchy eforum.xxx line... my biz name is The Body Mechanic Massage Therapy.. anyone got any snazzy ideas??? Haven't had any calls as yet, but it isn't that expensive and isn't hurting anything being on there....

I think I will get more but get the larger lettering....mine is the smaller one.. 1 1/2 inches I think... haven't tried it on the car doors.. not sure if they'd stick there or not. Would hate to get two and have them blow off! hee hee

One thing to consider about putting anything on your car perminantly is that it can then be considered a commercial vehicle... which can change your insurance, some roads that you are allowed to drive on, and your license plates for the vehicle...

That is why I was opting for the magnet, and now looking into the static cling signs.

I got a decal for my back window from Quickstickers (a snap to apply, just rub it on--I used the defroster lines to put in on straight) and it was under $26, including shipping. Advertising doesn't get any cheaper than that. It's permanent on my business-use vehicle unless I scrape it off: all in all a very tidy write-off that has saved me far more than it cost.

It shows my website only, no name or number, but people look me up online t024 , often via their cell, and then call.


I went with the decal rather than a cling or magnetic sign because they are professionally lettered and look neater, don't damage vehicle and the permanence just seems to convey better the appearance that I take my work seriously. Not sure I understand concern from a poster on another thread about wanting to be able to remove it because what if people saw it at the beach. What of it? Wherever my car is, it's giving the message to consider massage therapy. That's good for me and every other therapist out there.

I like your idea MRSkitten. I suppose those of us with web addresses that are not massage obvious may have different results. People may still be curious though and visit the site.

Nope...I do drive a LOT of miles and always paid a bit more for that. My premium is a bit higher than it was for my old car because my current vehicle is new and classified as a off-road-capable 4x4. (which it is indeed, having driven this exact model for two weeks all over the Big Island of Hawai'i before buying one for myself!)

But the insurance is deductible, too, you know! As are the repairs, registration, and gas. I have to keep precise records, but it saves me so much more than just doing the generic 'standard' automobile deduction.

I recently ordered and received my magnetic signs. I ordered them through cheapmagneticsigns dot com.

I was going to use a local sign company, to support the local guy but the cost difference was huge. And, I'm not certain that they were doing the magnetic signs on premises versus sending out themselves. They were charging $125 dollars for a pair - white background, one color lettering, 8 words, certain size, etc. For the same thing, I paid only $45 inlcuding shipping...to my pleasant surprise, they look great. The vinyl lettering is placed on the sign like it would be on a window or vehicle.

Having my business name on my car....eeks....I'll have to make sure my husband and I drive more compassionately.
