Just about all internet sources cite the coronavirus death rate as > 2% (not .2% or .02%) - which is fairly accurate based on around 900 deaths over 40,000 infected (at last count). Per quote below, the common flu death rate is about .05% so yeah, around 40x is about right. In fact, the .05% death rate for the common flu is very generous and based on other data on the internet, it actually appears to be much lower than this. Plus, the way coronavirus spreads asymptomatically (and possibly even airborne) makes it way more lethal. This not about fear mongering but just stating the correct numbers. Everyone needs to do what's best for them. I'm staying aware but it hasn't stopped me from hobbying and in fact, I just went today.

That's not the common flu mortality rate. You're taking one very low mortality rate for one season in a first world nation and saying that's the mortality rate across the board. In other words you're comparing the best case scenario with the flu to the worst case scenario with Corona, which I don't blame you for doing since everyone is freaking out. Read this...

Factor in the fact the numbers are skewed due under-reporting in China and in WuHan in particular. Compounding the issue those who escaped the lock down yet were infected. At least in this discussion some hard facts are being presented.
