And as far as I can tell you are not, And yes I agree there are a lot of young guys who are afraid of catching dieseases, Like I have already said my cousin did not indulge in the BGs, Due to that exact fear but that is not to say all young guys are afraid, And believe it or not a lot of older guys are just as scared as the young guys, Nobody wants to catch anything like that but some of us take our chances and live our lives, It would would be a very dull life if we didnt and I "Pesonally" would always look back in regret if I didnt try something due to fear, For instance im a little bit fearful of heights on occasions but the last trip I was in patong I done a bungee jump even though I was afraid, And believe me I glad I did because it was the best rush I ever had.

In July both my son and I are visiting Phuket for the first time (He is nineteen) we are principally coming to spend time scuba diving but obviously we will have to have a nightlife. Both of us have travelled in Thailand Bali and Malaysia before, so we have a reasonably good idea of the way of life in this part of the world...
Now here is the dilemma. I want to show him around, let him experience the nightlife (his sex life is his own business as long as I do not have to pay for it) but I don’t want him to have a bad experience. When we were in Bangkok last (Patpong) we were advised that the “King” group of bars were generally regarded as “safe”. Are there any such groups in Phuket? I want him to be able to back and tell his mates about the good time he had and not how his Dad took him to some place where he had a bad experience. As far as I am concerned, I am old enough and ugly enough to take care of myself. Any recommendations please as to where I can take him, and where to defiantly avoid. We are going to be in Patpong for about ten days so we would be looking for shows, bars with life and generally have a good time. We are not two males whose prime objective is BGs (if it happens, it happens). I have lurked on this board for some time and it’s obvious that the BMs here are probably the best place for this info.

Just to address you on this, several of you on this. Firstly, some of you have criticised me for not being "accepting" of Thai culture because I do not embrace the bg scene. Then you go on to call me names like "ole girl", "old slapper" etc. Well as many of you must realise by now Thai culture does not put so much value on age, so if you are so embracing of thai culture, why do you? And then furthermore why do you do it when it is a girl but if it is guy you seem to have no problem with age differences. If you want to preach "live and let live" you should be consistent. My preference for younger guys is no different than your preferences for bg's. So as they say, those in glass houses.

Secondly, I never spoke on behalf of every young guy on Earth and have conceded several times that I am certain as I have seen it, that many young guys love the scene, but I also know many do not. Many of you seem to want negate that. Just a little secret, not all men like asian women and not all men like the scene, you need to again, live and let live!

Man! You do not know me. I am seriously easy to talk to. These are not just blokes trying to get in my pants. I promise you. These are mates of mine and I have seen them go after hookers in Amsterdam so I KNOW they are telling me the truth. Honestly.. I think you have to be more objective, and look a little how things work in Thailand. There is a compleatly different culture, and im not only talking about religion. I guess you just have to keep your eyes and ears open, and learn to be blind in some matters...

The fact that you met a man who was uncomfortable around women should not make you assume we all are.. Any man with an ounce of confidence should know he can at least say no and get on with whatever.. This aint life back in the frozen north (thank god)..

And so the girls are after moneyy or decietful, well that the rules of the game, get used to it and enjoy is my advice to them... So the rules they were used to are not the way its played here.. Its a big world either you like the adventure or you dont..

As to the "i wouldn't" type comments.. Have you considered that what they may have been saying to your face ?? I dont know many men that are genuinely sooo shocked that left to thier own devices dont love to play the game.. Whether they dont wish to pay or not are all just variables in the great game..

I hope you find somehwre that meets your feelings and gives you someway of being happy.. I do think that you will need to loosen up a bit to have nightlife enjoyment in Phuket..

for me every bar in phuket is safe unlike bangkok where there is some doggy areas.
depends where your staying in phuket but if it's patong then the best two bars for advise is the Mai Thai in Soi Eric ask for nicke who runs this forum and the Love bar under the tiger run by graham(gspot on forum) if you need some good advise about bars and go go to visit see them as your first stop.
if your into scuba diving then go to mai thai bar because lots of bm's and nicke do scuba dinving so could recommend some good dive companys for you. as good advise on the best women ask graham.

These are guys that have different upbringing then you. Not ALL guys are enthralled by the scene in Thailand, there are many who are not and some who are even afraid. I have stated that it is clear that many young guys LOVE it, but so too are there many who do not. Like I said, these aren't little boys that are scared of girls, these are guys that are getting laid at home left right and center, perhaps that also paints there reality. Whatever it is they do not like the girls at all. I have other friends, mostly older than 30 though, who love the girls and have told me all sorts of sordid stories. TRUST me I am not judging it, its just not a scene I like for all the reasons I keep mentioning none to do with morality all to do with my being a single girl and not liking to be in the middle of the whole scene.

As for disease, condoms protect but nothing is a guarantee and some guys I know are VERY careful, the younger guys I know tend to be MUCH more careful than older and it also varies from where guys are from, ie english are sloppy with condom use, germans ok, dutch great, scandinavian great(outside of scandinavia). etc. Some guys would not touch a girl if they thought she even may have been around someone with hiv. Like you all keep saying but not living, to each their own, eh?
