1AM closure... Patong or rest of Island 12 ??

As I said.. Notices went out tonight, I was there when it was delivered with a stern warning that it was to be obeyed (tonight).. This was for beer bars under Tiger.

Laws.. Cambodia... those two words dont often come together in the same sentance.. Cambodia you can buy morphine / ketamine / uppers / downers etc all over the counter in the chemist.. Armed people are everywhere.. You can hear gunfire popping off at night... You get blown for $2 in the bar (some places have a hatch that opens under the bar so you literally sit at the bar !!)... The girls look good but the place is rough and dangerous... (this is based on a year or so back)

Thailand it is not, but for those that can keep thier wits about them while partying Cambodia is back to frontier town excitement and prices.. For those that get put off by machine guns in evidence Angelese City in PI is probably the next best bet... Shitty food compared to Thailand (take a Thai girl ) but the girls are equally friendly, cheaper, speak perfect english, have bigger tits (sorry but it is worth mentioning), the nightlife is great. and the country as a whole has less hassle it seems for expat living (visa's / owning businesses and land / getting by)... Its a bit seedier that Phuket as its city living which I dont like but then again if this does start to simply become a family destination I am not sure how much i like being told to stop and go home at 1AM either... 7AM is more my norm !!!!

I also got that notice tonight but we closed 02 as usual.

There is a meeting tomorrow regarding this.

In the past only Bangla and parts of the beachroad were declared as an entertainment zone, I doubt they can declare all Phuket as an entertainment zone. The reason for the zoning is to make it quiet in resedential areas, to avoid karaoke bars popping up everywhere.

If I imagine at one o’clock in high season:

Thousands of BG come out of the sois.
Thousand of tourist come out to Bangla road.
All the “normal” tourist come out of the restaurants and shops.
All the tuk tuk and motorbikes drive around.
Some BG sell beer etc. from little boxes
The street food seller are concentrating around Bangla.
The flying souvenir seller around.
And now all are partying around Bangla on the street. :cheergal: :cheergal:

seems a lot of guys i know,,and have met in the past are giving phuket a wide berth,,they tell me theyre sick of the early closing times,,compared to the fun they had years ago,,and are infact holidaying in pattaya or different countries,,where they can party till they drop,,which they probably do!,,i myself prefer a reasonable hour of closing,,on my first trip to thailand it took me 3 weeks to realise there was a beach in patong,,,ahhh,,those were the days !!!!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Sounds familiar

At the rate it is going, Ii might start experimenting new places next year!
In Kuala Lumpur..complaints galore due to authorities enforcing closing time at 2.00 a.m.(normal 3.00 am) for pubs and bars near residential areas but thank god still 3.00 am for KL Bintang walk etc which cater for tourists.

Pattaya is also affected by the new rules, if enforced. Heard many bars in Bangok had to close 12 already.

Yes, in fact it is Bangsar pub/bar owners which is making an issue of it but this is the in-place to be, unfortunately it is near residential areas....but a bigger spoiler is the increase in tax on alcoholic drinks and cigarettes..1 small bottle of heineken RM 14.40 and 20 cigarettes RM6.50 now!

I remember buying a case of Tiger and it cost me RM120. We used to drink down at Victoria Station and during happy hour jugs where RM17, so we ordered numerous before happy hour finshed, otherwise it was something like RM35 for a jug.

I thought it was expensive then, sounds like it is more so now.

Maybe I am completly wrong, but if the discos have to close at 2 am, maybe the authorities want to close the bars one hour sooner, so the BG's who didn't get a customer have one more hour to get one in discos ... just an idea but as I said, maybe I am wrong ... I dont want to offend anyone.

Fact is I cant get myself lively until 10 ish a best... hour or two to get into the groove then it really cuts down on the time spent on the lash... Lets face it 2 or so years back bars had 9 - 5 drinking trade with the late bars being till dawn.. Now instead of 8 or more hours selling they have 3 or 4 if these rules are enforced.

Of course it does not take a genius to notice that if only a couple of places are selectively left open they will clean up under the new scheme as Pain and associates have Dragon and Safari f the bars are closed and the discos left as the late night meat market (last chance saloon as my buddy calls it due to the FL's getting keener and keener) they will absolutely clean up.

Nightclubs can close 02 but the question is what a nightclub is? Bangkok post wrote 01 for discos and 02 for nightclubs. So I guess the discos should obtain a nightclub license then.

Another issue... The bars on main bangla who is open during the daytime. They can not if this is enforced, they can open earliest at 18:00 as for all other bars in the nightlife scene. Nightclubs can open 21:00 but close 02.
