So am I right that in all LOS the max closing time can be 2 am by law?. Or Is there for some zones a possibility to go on later. I'm a bite confused that ( as it looks like) nobody knows what the governement (thailand) law says, and what excatly the zones are where this law not counts for. And what then the laws is for this zones. Somebody......?

Makati (Philippines) here the latest bars close at 5am

Angeles stays open pretty much until the last customer leaves. I've never really made it past 3am there (at least to where I remember'd going that late). I'm going there this weekend, so I will double check the "official" closing hours".

Sabang (Puerto Galera/Mindoro) stays open until 2am.

These are the areas that alot of people go to. Makati is actually a much better place to go to if you want quality over quanity. In terms of safety, all of them are safe. I am reading these reports of foreigners vs Thai's and I have yet to EVER see anything like that here. Honestly the worse fights here are foreigners vs foreigners.

The report of STD's being more rampant here is crap. I have NO idea where the information came from that he is using. Also, Angeles is about to blow up (business) due to the new infastructure that they are putting in at the old Clark Airbase. FedEx already signed a multi-million dollar project and alot of call enters are looking to move there.

Really, if you haven't been here, you should come and check it out. I can't compare it to Thailand because I have never been (looking to fix that next month). So far though (from what I read) it seems like everything is the same except that you guys in LOS have to put up with a lot more "rules" and unspoken rules then we expats do here.

Also remember that by law the closing time has always been 01 or 02 and what make you believe it will be enforced for long this time? The new law published in Royal Gazette (Where all new laws/regulation are published) is mainly an update regarding zoning and some adjustments to closing time.

During my years here I have seen enforcing of 02 closing time many times but it always went back to more relaxed closing time later.

There are also talks about tourists areas to be excempted from these laws.

We closed 1.30 tonight but if I had many customers in the bar I could easily stay open longer even thought the music from the DJ closed down. Patong close officially around 1:00 now but they are not strict as in the past. If customers stay around any bar can stay open longer, if they wish. Police just tell us to close and then walk away, if somebody want stay open longer then no problem.

I knew this would turn into something uncontrollable. Tonight SeaDragon was told we could open till 2am. We closed at 120am, as all the staff were there early and starting work an hour earlier. I really think this is situation normal, with no one really knowing what is really going on, even the police.

Angeles seems (to me) to suffer a little bit more 'Americainization' though... The girls all speaking English is easy but it does seem to be a bit burger and fries (maybee thats just a result of the worse food) and less of retaining its own cultural background..

The concept of zoning was first raised, what about 3 years ago. Thats how long we have been waiting for this to be finialised.

You are correct, to a level. If anything I would say that it's pretty Aussie and American over anything else. There is a wide variety of food up there, some tasty and some not so much. Really the Philippines has been through alot of occupations in the past 100 years, mainly American and Japanese. There culture is more "Americanized" vs. that of say India that is more of a British type of English.

Another factor is that ALOT of Koreans are going to that area and some bars are starting to get converted to cater their tastes. Their "tastes" being more prudish IMHO. Most of the people I do run into up there though are approx 50% American and 50% Aussie. There are a few of the old military dogs that roam around up there (they got lost when Clark was closed and forgot to take the plane home).

I did miss one point though in that 90% of the bars that you would visit ARE foreigner owned, HOWEVER, the land is not outright owned. It's typically a long lease since foreigners are NOT allowed to purchase property unless it's under a locals name and/or their spouse is pinoy.

I personally am not a big fan of local dishes here except the spicy ones from Bicol and Mindanao areas (I'm a big fan of the girls from those areas also :biggrinlo )

Without kidding, a friend of mine is married to a Phillipin girl, he regrets that by the way.

He has been to the Philipinnes many times, and he says it is a very unsafe place compared to Thailand! :sad:

So I don't think that if you are used to Thailand, you will find the same athmosphere there!

And if Philipin cuisine is so excuise as my friend wife's cooks...

I have to agree with you........if you're going on a holiday you want to enjoy yourself ALL NIGHT LONG..........If you want to to take it easy and have a late dinner at 9:30 - 10;00pm at night and then cruise bars a couple hours later well unfortunately it seems that it will be a thing of the past. I know people say just go out earlier, but when on holidays part of the fun is doing things in your own time and not feeling like you are constrained by time deadlines. Plus nothing really gets started in Patong until 10- 10:30 so there is a lack of atmosphere

I know a couple of party animals that were going to go to Phuket but were spooked by the early closing times so the are going to an island called Borocay in the Philippines instead.........it really rocks!!! Some of you BM's should check it out

Yes, just going out earlier is not the solution. But let´s wait what the outcome of this is.
And when I remember my last trips there already was the two o clock deadline. And I always was able to find a place to party on.
Usualy some of the girls know some secret places where it still rocks on.
But it would clearly more fun when time limitation would go away or stays at least at 2 o clock.
But now let us see what Stevem or Nicke will report tomorrow.
