On the first point: Both ended well and on good terms, 4 years is my limit I guess.

On the second point: I don't think I have got the numbers the wrong way round and I have been here long enough (13 years) to know enough Thai/Farang couples who are happy, it's in the dozens.

After reading through all of your flip flops and questions the past month, I have one piece of advice for you.

Stop taking advice on "life" from public forums. Go talk to a therapist or some close family member to work your issues out. The BM's here can give you great advice on the culture, typical habits, places to see/be and other great info, but only you can figure your life out. No one is the same and things work differently for different people.

No offense either, it just seems a bit of immaturity on your part and the BM's here telling you things that you are not wanting to hear.

Not impossible but a lot of paperwork for permant residency. Bought mine out here just recently on 3 month tourist Visa and the paperwork was easier enough if you have it. I only met her 3 months prior to application.

I understand that anything permanent has a 4 month minimum process period.

The tourist Visa is the best start and if successful sets a good platform for permanancy if that is what one wants.

glad you got out without to much damage, it is obviously difficult to accept advice from total strangers on a forum, but if you put yourself out there, then you have to accept that not everything will be to your liking.

most of the senior members are only here to help and not ridicule and belittle other bm's, so this is another example where experience talks and bs walks.
this is chance for you to learn and next time you will be more prepared, you seem to be intent on a tg, so take it easy and don't become desperate, if it's meant to be it will be, talk to them get to know them, but don't make massive commitments to what amounts to a stranger, whilst you are on a holiday fling.

Congrats. I have good friends here UK/Thai who just celebrated 12 years, sure they will have had their 'moments' but that applies in any relationship.

My GF is from near Cambodian border east of Bangkok, Sa Kaeo, seems a different culture (or maybe it's just in her family) to many tales I've read of Isaan/'up north', none of family drink/smoke (but she doesn't mind my beer consumption - yet! - but has been known to count the cans!) they have 30 bullocks and sound like good basic farm types, ha ha like I am ex rural NZ.

I'll keep looking through threads, have searched but keywords/thread titles don't often match.

you are right in some respects, though I do like hearing about other people's experiences, i already have my plans and think she's legit, everything that i hear is irrelevant to me but interesting still the same.

yes i am young and having a girlfriend on the other side of the world is something i did not intend on having to deal with, at this age, let alone my whole life.

I thought it was better to listen, read and learn about other peoples experience on life, to gain a greater knowlegde and then make my own decisions based on that knowledge.

your quite right in that am never going to learn my lessons on life on this forum or any other for that matter, i have however learn't that on forums people like to pick each other apart on anything and everything other people say.

I love my life and its been extreamly interesting adventure and would do it all again and would never take it back for any other.

i have spoken to family members. i'll think i'll skip on therapist though.

i'm just wondering how you met an 18/19 year old in the first place - i know the age of consent law for a farang in thailand is 18 and up, but in P4P its 20 and up. as far as i'm aware under 20's are not allowed to work in bars or gogo's etc and you can get arrested if suspected of p4p'ing with an under 20, being a farang. that's what i've read anyway



i'm the same age as him, now divorced after 2 years of being with a TG probably not much different to this girl (only his is 10 years Younger than my ex!). she at least knew what she wanted in life (took a long time for that to get across to me *her hidden agendas*) and could wrap it up in 1 package. i imagine it would be great fun to have a 19 yr old TG running around in your home country, but shes still a kid to be fair so how would she know who she's going to commit her life to at such a young age and get married, move 1000's of miles away from home etc. sounds like its set to fail and quickly IMO. she'll get a house out of it fair enough, so she'll play along regardless i'm sure.

one other question re the house - i can't afford a deposit on my own house in mind yet and i earn good money, it'll take a while to save. how can the OP afford to buy someone ELSE a house? how are you financing that..? purely out of interest.

on top of that you'll have to continue to send 16k a month (500 USD + Westernunion fees), pay for all the visa stuff and then support her at a much higher cost in your own country. so you got all of those outgoings. what do you do for a living?
